Making elections in our state safer and more secure than they are is going to take action by concerned citizens.  State legislators and local election commission members will listen to citizens and that’s what its going to take to move Tennessee to a safer, more secure election process.  Everyone MUST help.  NOW.

First:

• Build relationships with your local Election Commission.
  • Search your county election commission website to learn who they are.
• Build relationships with your State Representatives and Senators.

Second:

• Write, call, email and meet with them to let them know your concerns; insist on a response.
• Advocate for your issues in a professional manner.  The issues on this website might help you.
  • Use these talking points, but put them in your own words:
    • We all want open, transparent elections.  But we’re concerned with what we’ve seen in previous elections.
    • Machines are vulnerable; hand-marked paper ballots are safer than ballot marking devices; return us to voting in precincts rather than susceptible vote centers; drastically improve election audits; implement serious punishment for election crimes; be much more transparent.
    • Listen to citizens; they know far more about elections and election processes than you think.

Third:

• Get involved: Attend meetings, be a poll worker, precinct chair or poll watchers.

Free Poll Watcher Training:

• One of the best ways to help ensure a secure election is to become a poll watcher.  The Williamson County Republican Party manages an excellent poll watcher program that has more than 150 watchers who donate a little time to ensure elections are run fairly.  It benefits both candidates and citizens.  The program includes a mandatory training session to ensure watchers know what to do and what to look for.  To get more information about upcoming trainings, send an email to: pollwatch@williamsongop.org.
